Race Management workshop

Learn the basics of Race Management in the Heart of Caribbean Sailing.

Are you passionate about sailing and want to be part of the action on race day? Do you enjoy organizing, problem-solving, or working as part of a dynamic team?

The many organizers involved in Antiguan Events want to build capacity locally in race management. Many of our officials are aging out of the sport, and we need new, curious and motivated to learn people to get involved in the sport to ensure we can continue to deliver professionally run racing across all of our events, whether club racing or international regattas.

Antigua Yacht Club, the Antigua & Barbuda Sailing Association, Jolly Harbour Yacht Club, Antigua Sailing Week & Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta are working together to offer an exciting opportunity to learn all about race management.

This introductory workshop will be perfect for:

  • Sailors who want to gain a deeper understanding of race management.
  • Volunteers interested in supporting sailing events like Antigua Sailing Week, Antigua Classic Regatta, The Jolly Harbour Valentines Regatta, Caribbean 600 and other local regattas
  • Enthusiasts eager to learn how races are run behind the scenes.

You will receive an overview of:

  • The basics of on the water organizing and managing a regatta.
  • Key roles and responsibilities on the water.
  • Setting up racecourses and ensuring fair competition.
  • Communication protocols and safety practices.

Following the introduction – there will then be further training for those who are interested in pursuing it further.

No sailing experience is necessary, but it will be an advantage.
