The National Parks Authority (NPA) wishes to advise all marine stakeholders that channel sweeping activities will be undertaken to maintain the navigable depth of the main channel into English Harbour.
Works are expected to commence in early August 2026 and, subject to weather conditions, may continue through October 2026. These activities are being scheduled ahead of the peak of the hurricane season and prior to the start of the 2026/2027 yachting season.
Before the commencement of works, the NPA completed extensive ecological and heritage surveys of the project area. Sensitive non-motile marine organisms, including corals located within the sweeping area, have been identified and will be relocated to the NPA Coral Nursery where appropriate. Environmental monitoring will be conducted throughout the project by the NPA’s Environmental Unit, with support from the Fisheries Division and the Department of Environment.
During these activities, marine users will experience temporary disruptions in harbour access. The NPA kindly asks for your patience and cooperation as we carry out these important maintenance activities.
The National Parks Authority thanks all stakeholders for their understanding and continued support. Please feel free to reach out to the NPA at 481-5021/
