Antigua wins bid to host Optiworlds 2019

Antigua has won the bid to host the Optiworlds in 2019. Presented by Kathy Lammers on behalf of Antigua Yacht Club and Antigua, Kathy posted a message at 6.30am today to confirm that IODA (The International Optimist Dinghy Championship) members had voted in the majority for Antigua to host the 2019 edition.

She is currently in Thailand for the Optiworlds at which a record breaking 280 sailors from 62 countries are attending. The trip was to formally present the Antigua bid and get an opportunity to see the set up of the event in anticipation of the bid being accepted.

The event will take place from July 6 to 16, 2019 and will bring significant economic benefits to Antigua during the summer months as did the two previously hosted summer events.

Congratulations and a job well done to Kathy – we look forward to the full report later as she is currently attending the day long AGM.
