Duty Free Concessions on Small Craft Safety Equipment

The Small Craft Control Act 2015 came into force in Antigua and Barbuda on the 1st January 2016.

Under this Act, the Antigua and Barbuda Department of Marine Services and Merchant Shipping (ADOMS) is the Authority with full responsibility for Registration, Licensing and Regulation of all small pleasure craft and small commercial vessels, operating in Antigua and Barbuda waters and/or registered under the flag.

In the context of the regulations, a small craft is less than 24 metres in length that is operating in Antigua and Barbuda waters.

ADOMS is pleased to announce that Cabinet have approved the waiver of Customs Duties, Revenue Recovery Charges and Antigua and Barbuda Sales Tax (ABST), on the purchase of safety equipment for small craft, similar to the existing arrangement for commercial fishing vessels.

This only applies to safety equipment for use onboard small craft that are licenced by ADOMS, under the Small Craft Control Act and Regulations.

Further information can be obtained from ADOMS Technical Department.
