Race Three – Sunday 13th March

The third race of the Superyacht Challenge Antigua started with a good breeze of 15-20 knots from the north east but later in the race, rain showers and a softening of the wind, created a very different scenario to the previous two races held in full trades. The Race Committee led by PRO Hank Stuart chose three different courses for the classes for a final race to decide the class winners for the regatta. The Buccaneers were given a course of approximately 22nm with upwind, reaching legs, and a penultimate leg was a long beat followed by a reach to finish. The Privateers raced on a course of approximately 28nm with a similar axis but an addition of a windward leeward component between Cades Reef and Rendezvous Beach. The Corsairs had the longest course of the day, approximately 30nm, again with wind angles testing every point of sail, and in addition a long windward leeward component, inshore at Cades Reef to offshore of Shirley Heights.
