Antigua Sailing Week is delighted to announce the beginning of a new three year sponsorship with Virgin Atlantic solidifying its position as the Official Exclusive UK Airline Sponsor of Antigua Sailing Week.

For Virgin Atlantic the move to support Antigua Sailing Week strategically endorses its desire to support sports tourism in Antigua and the Caribbean Region.  Virgin’s Business Development Manager – Caribbean, Sean Edwards, says:  ‘Sport is critical to the economies of the Caribbean because of their impact on the participants and their supporters visiting our islands to take part in international events.  They also offer our region’s youth the opportunity to be exposed to international competition in their own back yard, thereby encouraging them to improve their own skills, and their desire to travel to compete overseas.’

This is never more true than during Antigua Sailing Week where each year participants from more than 20 nations around the world congregate in Antigua for the opportunity to race in superb trade wind conditions for a chance to win the Lord Nelson Trophy.

Virgin’s weekly flight schedule features flights into and out of Antigua on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays which means there are perfectly timed flights for participants who want to race in the optional Round Antigua Race on Saturday 23rd April and for all sailors who plan to race in Antigua Sailing Week starting on Sunday 24th April.  Spectators planning to travel to Antigua to be here for the week long celebration of yacht racing will find the schedules to their liking and flights will be available for those wanting to fly out the day after the final prize giving on Friday 29th April.

To help ensure that as many sailors as possible can be part of the event for the next three years, Virgin Atlantic will be offering preferred rates to all sailors and their supporters travelling to Antigua to be part of Antigua Sailing Week.
