Antigua Sailing Week (ASW), an event wholly-owned by the non-profit company Caribbean Sailing Events Inc., is inviting applications from suitable candidates for the post of Chairman, Regatta Organising Committee to work with the Committee to plan and organise all aspects of Antigua Sailing Week’s race management.
The 50th Antigua Sailing Week was celebrated in 2017 and planning is well underway for the 51st which will be held from April 28 to May 4, 2018. ASW is one of the original and best-known Caribbean sailing regattas and has a reputation as one of the most professionally managed regattas in the world.
The successful candidate will be an active sailor with first-hand experience of yacht and keelboat racing including a comprehensive understanding of the World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing, ideally with a network of contacts within the local, regional and international yacht racing communities. Teamwork is key in the role and a proven record of decision-making and managing people, projects and budgets is essential along with strong communication and interpersonal skills. An understanding of commercial sponsorship and experience in marketing and communications would be valuable assets.
This is a year-round position that requires an extensive time commitment in the period January through mid-May, particularly in the months of March and April. Initially, however, the role will shadow the current Chairman of the Regatta Organising Committee in order to learn all aspects of the job.
